Catalogue of the exhibition of well-known sculptor Plácido Fleitas which aimed at reincorporating the significance of one of the most singular artists from the Canary Islands to the historiography of Spanish 20th century art. Fleitas's work blends the peculiarities of a poetry which delves into the most archaic aspects of the native islanders with the most universal abstract and geometric of styles. The publication has different articles on different aspects of the sculptor: "Sculpture in the Canary Islands from 1917-1972" and "The native and the world's culture". Josefina Alix, the curator, is one of the authors of these articles, together with Guillermo Solana, Fernando Castro Borrego, José Corredor Mateos and Carlos Pérez Reyes.
