Remo Guidieri, professor at the University of Paris X, Nanterre and the Cooper School of Architecture of New York and Naples, directed and gave the seminar entitled 'Toys. Aura and enigma of the aesthetic sense', the first part of which was held in the CAAM in November 1998, and the second in April, 1999. Guidieri's conferences aimed at "revealing the transitions through which cult objects pass. Secular toys, preserved and piled up works, network of crypts, mausoleums. Prose of the opaque and banal world which, on the one hand creates discomfort, amazement and concern and, on the other, revelation'. Convinced that any object can now be aestheticised and thus acquire exhibition value, and that never before have there been so many fetishes, Guidieri has converted one of the most interesting seminars recently held at the CAAM into an essay.
